For five minutes, write about what makes your character giggle, what makes him/her laugh, and what makes him/her guffaw. Is there anyone else who shares your character's sense of humor?
I'd have to write about myself, especially when I see pictures of me doing things like leaping from a ski lift because I missed the turn at the top of the run--yep. That was me! Or, rolling off the edge of a raft into the "not" swimmers' rapids. Also me. Why does my family always have a camera?
Ha, I think your family always has a camera because they know they're going to get some hilarious photos! But that's why we embarrass ourselves, to get material for books. :-)

ReplyDeletePerfect timing! I'm just working through a second draft and realizing I don't know much about my mc.
ReplyDeleteShelli - If that's the case, I'm glad you and your character have found each other. :-)
ReplyDeleteDenise - I hope these exercises help you get to know your mc a bit better. Happy writing!
