Stinging Words

Write about the worst thing your character has ever said to anyone. Then write about the worst thing that has ever been said to your character. What were the consequences of your character saying/hearing those things?

    For the first, she drove away her friends. For the second, she felt hurt, diffident and self-conscious.

    My character said something that broke the rules. The person he said it to told someone else and then my character was no longer safe. The worst thing that was ever said to him made him realise he didn't care whether he lived or died any more.
    Yay - thanks for this, looks like I've got high stakes in my story!
